Discovery goes on

Western Australia is one of the flattest countries in the world. We've got used to the 2-D landscape. It is like looking at a beautiful plant, or listening to good music: the more you look at the details, the more you discover, appreciate and love. After Anh-Dao's parents left back to Switzerland, our new Au-Pair Sophie joined our little family and we took a couple of trips together to venture out to new places, while also revisiting some of the highlights.

On one occasion we drove to Sandy Cape near Jurien Bay and spent a night camping at one of the most picturesque places on the whole coast. They have even built a catwalk for visitors to show off their beach wear to photographers...

Of course we also had our kites along, so whenever we found a beach with good swell breaking on a nearby reef, it was the opportunity for Anh-Dao and me to go out and discover the spot while Sophie kindly watched the kids play safely at the beach. This year, the summer seemed to pass very quickly. The reason is that Anh-Dao has started a full-time job, so it has just become a bit more complicated to juggle work, school, household, early morning yoga, after-work kitesurfing, kids after-school activities etc. etc. Lucky Sophie was here to help! This significantly reduces the stress level and helps make life more beautiful! Thank you Sophie!

At Easter we headed South towards Margaret River. We booked a budget campsite at Geographe Bay where we met other families with kids to enjoy swimming in still warm waters, have a drink and watch beautiful sunsets, and take day trips to discover nearby areas such as Bunker Bay. To create a sense of holiday and make good for the cool nights, we treated ourselves well by eating out at wineries, breweries and holiday resorts with great views. A little luxury at the right moment just feels so good! Of course we also couldn't resist joining our dear Brasilian friends Alexandra, Marcelo, Hannah and Isabella for a yummie Picanha barbeque at their holiday home which was just a couple kilometers down the road from where we stayed.
